PK-AS is an advanced military version of PKS-01 and is the best purpose-built combat optic available for the Kalashnikov rifle. Although this Russian collimator red dot/black dot optic was designed to provide the latest technological advances to CIS special forces units, we are now able to offer the same basic advanced units, in limited quantities, to private collectors and professional shooters. It is quite rare that a sight as advanced as this would be available to the general public, much less to Western shooters. Manufactured to unrivaled quality standards, the expensive to produce fully coated prismatic lens system provides a breathtaking, high contrast wide angle field of view that will satisfy even the most professional end user.

PK-AS-S is the latest Russian military variant with low mount side bracket riser for AK rifles. It performs flawlessly in all environments and under all lighting conditions due to it's state-of-the-art black dot-red dot operation. Under normal daylight conditions, a precise 1 MOA black dot enclosed in a simple elliptical rangefinding circle is always visible without the use of battery power. Conversely, in low light or complete darkness the user can activate a 1.5 MOA red dot. This flexibility means PK-AS will perform to full potential under all lighting variations and environmental conditions. Red dot operation functions on two commonly found watch batteries, so there is no need to search for hard to find power sources.

Range adjustments are easily and quickly made via a manually operated indexed ballistic cam. This thumbwheel style range turret is calibrated in equal 2 MOA increments which makes it easy to use the sight with any calibre rifle. Upon initial installation, coarse adjustments for both windage and elevation, if needed, can be easily made via indexed Allen-type adjusting nuts. The 3.5mm Allen wrench tool for this is also included in the sight package.

The 1X design permits "both eyes open" (no sights to align, no eye strain) shooting with a corresponding unrestricted wide angle field of view and extremely quick target acquisition. The precision dot system combined with the striking field of view produced by the high quality lens system provides far superior accuracy at distances equal to and exceeding those capable with iron sights. The elliptical range finder not only gives an effective estimation of distance, but is also an outstanding aiming device for CQB or short range target acquisition.

The PK-AS-S mounting clamp is capable of fitting properly to almost all types of AK side mount rail designs. It is used by the Russian military, and offers the lowest possible placement of the sight body for comfortable shooting without the need for cheek pads or rests. As with most Soviet pattern military rifle optics, it is offset to the left of center, by a small margin. Iron sights can be used with this optical device attached.
